Is it just me, or is this getting harder

April 30th, 2009 | Comments | Posted in Christy, Shredding with the Sisterhood |

I am on Day4 of Level 3 on the 30-Day Shred, and maybe it’s just me, but it seems to be getting harder each day rather than easier. I mean, I’m already sweating and out of breath after the freaking warm up! By the time I hit circuit 2 I’m ready to die, and when circuit 3 rolls around, sweat is dripping off of me onto my tile floor. When I’m done, I have to mop the floor and stick my head in the sink and run water on it. My whole body is covered in sweat!

With this level, I feel much more like I did during level 1. Hurting (although not as much) and completely exhausted when I’m done. And did I mention sweaty? For some reason, level 2 didn’t seem so tough to me. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it was hard, but I didn’t sweat quite as much, and I wasn’t really that sore. At least not as sore as I wanted to be.

I am half and half on regular versus modified moves. I can usually do the first set of exercises in the regular way, and then on the second rep, I follow Anita. Gotta LOVE Anita over there taking the easy way out, right?! The strenght move I find hardest is the plank row/leg lift. I try to follow Natalie, but end up on my knees halfway through. The cardio move I hate most is the Rockstar. I mean, who makes up that shit? For real? Hate. My least favorite ab move is, of course, the sit up. Sorry, can’t do regular situps without my feet under the end of the couch. I feel like I’m back in high school in gym and I need someone to sit on my feet and count for me. I do love the last ab move where we’re on our sides. I can really, really feel the burn on that one.

How are you doing? What day are you on? What are your favorite/least favorite moves? Are you as sweaty as me?

  • i get sweaty walking to the mailbox so i'm drenched after my shred workouts! (you have me very thankful for carpeting in my living room).

I'm excited for level 2 (when are us newbies suppose to be moving along?) i'm natalie all the way...except for the push ups. its probably just a mental thing, because i do half and half. i'll try to stay with her the whole time tonight.

I am on day 100 of the 30 Day Shred. I have lost 32 pounds since January 12. I have gone from a size 16 to a size 9 and I'm almost out of a 9.
This DVD was the best $ 8.00 I ever spent in my life! I do the 30 Day Shred 4 days a week and Muay Thai kickboxing 2 days a week. I’ve had such great results with this DVD that three of my friends have started using it.
I switch between level 2 & 3 now since I have been doing this for so long. I just bought Jillian Michaels DVD’s; No More Trouble Zones & Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, I'm waiting for them to arrive.
I cut my calories, no longer drink anything but water, hot green tea and occasionally soy milk or orange juice. Our family rarely eats fast food and if we do it's someplace healthy. We don’t buy boxed or canned foods and shop mainly around the perimeter of the store where the meats, diary, produce and breads are located. I am a 32 year old mother of four children and I am seven pounds away from the weight I was before my kids. It can be done with a lot of discipline and persistence.
  • I don't know if it's actually getting harder or if I'm just flat tired!! I do feel that on some of the moves in Level 3 I'm getting better at, and maybe I'll be able to EVENTUALLY get up to doing some of the moves with Natalie...I'm just glad there aren't as many plank moves! Those were killing me!!
Sit ups I'm about ready to just give up on...see yesterday's post...but I did do a few of them tonight!
  • A lot of the moves on this level I did while doing P90X. They sucked then and I hate 'em still. But they work!!
  • today is day 3 (or 4? my calender is down stairs) of level 2 & I am so huffing & puffing & sweating w/the whole heartrate thru the roof I have a red face. I am not sure I can HANDLE level 3... pretty much hoping for a new challenge b4 then LOL

good for you to keep going!!!! I have so much respect for everyone that advanced past level 2!!!
  • I just found you guys and you are so fun to read. I've read every post I think. I love Jillian too, did the 30 day shred and am now killing myself on "No More Trouble Zones" and "Banish Fat-Boost Metabolism." I heart her, in a love-hate kind of way. Good luck to you all!
And it's funny, I find Level 2 the most difficult. I love Level 3 because all the plank means my heart doesn't come pounding out of my body. Level 2 was so hard for me, esp those sidways things with the arms going up. Oy.
  • You just wrote my post for me. I am dying this level...and I'm dreading it because of how tired and sweaty I am. I don't mind the middle cardio so much. The rockstar following the jumping lunges kick my arse completely, but I'm doing it the best I can.
  • I could have written this exact post! Sweaty by the end of Superman, check. Hate the Rockstar jumps, check. Hate the plank row/leg lift combo, check. Can't do the sit ups with assistance, in my case my coffee table, check. The ONLY move in the entire Level 3 segment that I can tolerate is the one-armed squat move. I do my best to follow Natalie all the way through, but I hate the rockstar jumps too much to even follow Anita. I do my own thing.

Christy, I'm with you!! Level 2 was definately my favorite. I didn't want to move on!! Like you, in level 3 I was about done in by the time the warm up was done!! I do stick with Anita the whole time as I can't do any high imapct moves due to injury, but still, it's hard!! I like the sumo jump, I also like superman!!! All in all I do sweat and I do feel better after I have done it. Whoever had this idea for a challenge should be commended--it's great!

I'm still on Level 2 and you guys are totally freaking me out about Level 3. I rocked Level 2 today though! I'm halfway through Level 2, so I have 5 days left until...gulp level 3. I know I read that some people want to know what to do after the Shred. Well, if you get a chance preview her other videos Blast Fat, Burn Metabolism and No More Trouble Zones. They have a lot of the exact same moves, but it's longer (45 min) and more intense but Blast Fat is only cardio.
I also wanted to tell everyone thanks for all the great comments on my blog. You guys are awesome!
