True Confessions

January 26th, 2010 | Comments | Posted in Christy, true confessions |

This week I have been back on my game. Totally tracking every.single.point I consume via Weight Watchers online, exercising 5 out of 7 days, drinking lots of water, etc.

But let’s talk about counting those Points.

My daily allowance of Weight Watchers Points is 22. That averages out to about 1200 calories a day, give or take a hundred here or there for consuming things higher in fiber. After spinning my wheels for the past couple of months and not following the plan, getting back on it has been hard. Like Christie, I feel like I’m starving half the time, and I know it’s all in my head! I’m not really starving, I’m just not used to accounting for everything that goes into my mouth. So I get those blessed extra 35 Flex Points each week, and while I used to save them up for a splurge meal, this past week I was dipping in to them and using 3-5 on a daily basis. Then comes Friday, which was our night to dine out. We went to Fuddruckers. I hadn’t had a real hamburger in ages. Or fries or onion rings. Now I will give myself some credit, because I did order a buffalo burger, which is much lower in fat and calories, and it did come on a wheat bun, BUT I also ordered fries AND onion rings, AND I smothered everything in fake cheese sauce. Have you ever had Fuddruckers fake cheese? It’s DIVINE. Don’t ever eat it, m’kay?!

I pretty much blew through the rest of my daily points AND all of my Flex Points, and even some of the Activity Points I’d earned. All on one stupid meal. Totally, totally not worth it.

Since Saturday, I’ve been desperately trying to stick to my 22 daily Points, and it’s be SUCK CITY.

Last night I gave into temptation. Now let me just tell you, before you roll your eyes so hard they fall right out of your head, that my crazy splurges are not what they used to be. I didn’t eat a whole package of cookies (ye,s I’ve done this), or a king size Snickers (used to be weekly), or a half-dozen cupcakes (don’t judge). I ate TWO Chocolate Brownie Z-bars dipped in Light Cool Whip. Generously dipped, over and over and over. That’s about 6 points, or over 1/4 of my daily Points, when I didn’t have any left.

So, what have I learned from this? I will be very stingy with my Flex Points from now on. I certainly will not blow all of them, plus some, on one meal again. I know there is no reason for me to be hungry as long as I’m using my Points wisely. WISELY. Oh, and next time I decide to give into temptation, I’ll only eat ONE Z-bar. Promise. And there won’t be any Cool Whip involved.

True Confessions

January 5th, 2010 | Comments | Posted in Christy, true confessions |

Ahhhh, True Confessions Tuesday. As the little button suggests, there’s no bull allowed around here today! It’s time to get it all off our chests, or rear ends, or muffin tops. Whatever. Anyway, you’ll feel better, I’ll feel better, it will be a veritable better feeling FEST!

Here are mine!

  1. I went skiing last week! First time. While there was lots of activity involved, there was also lots of hot chocolate. The kind that comes out of one of those machines. Totally NOT diet.
  2. We found a cozy little Chinese restaurant in New Mexico, of all places! The Great Wall of China = SODIUM CITY. We ate there 2x.
  3. I totally didn’t drink enough water EVEN after reading that when you’re skiing it’s easy for your body to get dehydrated without you even realizing it. And eating snow will only make it worse. Harumph.
  4. When we drove home, we were in the car for hours and hours for 2 days. I ate a lot of snacks. LOTS OF SNACKS. While they weren’t necessarily bad snacks, any snack is bad if you eat 10 servings of it over a 2 hour period. Did you know that?
  5. I may have eaten some gargantuan fried shrimp sometime last week. And a creme brulee. I can’t say for sure, though.

Okay, I think that’s it! Not so bad, right?

True Confessions::The Business of Busy-ness

Lord have mercy. Seriously. The business of busy-ness is really taking a toll on me. Running here and there and everywhere has my routine all fouled up. I need to take some deep breathes and get back on track.

When December first started, I smugly proclaimed that *I* would not let the holiday season get the best of me. Not me. No way in hell. While the month started off pretty well, now that we’ve reached the midway point, I feel myself sliding a little. Maybe it was:

  • The out of town wedding this past weekend, where I ate every meal out, and didn’t make the wisest choices. Oh, I also had 2 slices of cake, because it was a WEDDING and there was an amazing wedding cake AND a chocolate grooms cake. Killer.
  • While I did my EA SPORTS Active More Workouts every day last week, I didn’t get a chance to run because the rain, which led to lots of mud, and when you live on a dirt road, mud is no fun (unless you’re mud wrestling in a bikini, which means you need to RUN in order to look good in said bikini). I haven’t run in over a week, needless to say I’m not in bikini condition. SUCK.
  • My water intake is SUCKING. I completely blame this on the fact that I lost my 32 ounce water bottle. I totally need a new water bottle STAT.
  • I haven’t registered for the Sisterhood 1/2 marathon with Team in Training yet. I fully intend to soon, but I just haven’t had time!

Instead of sitting here feeling sorry for myself like a lazy slob on the couch, I’m going to fire up More Workouts to see if I can’t turn this slide around. Seriously. I’m not going down without a fight and I fully intend on finishing out the Shrink-a-Versary Extravaganza Challenge with a loss and not a gain!!

True Confessions

December 7th, 2009 | Comments | Posted in Christy, true confessions |

It’s that time of week when we confess all of our transgressions at the sisterhood! I’m sad to say I’ve had more than a couple this past week!

  1. On Thursday night I had a steak. I figured an 8 ounce filet mignon was better than 90% of the other crap on the menu. I even had steamed veggies with it. I did have more than my fair share of a shared dessert. OY. I have to say it was SO yummy and I hadn’t had a steak in FOREVER!!!!!! Totally worth it, if that had been my only splurge!
  2. Let’s see…..I cooked pretty healthily the rest of the weekend, but my downfall was eating too much of what I cooked.
  3. One word: snacking. Too much.
  4. Brownies, but they sucked, so I didn’t eat more than one, and tossed/pawned off the rest.
  5. My worst offense was not drinking enough water. Seriously. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. Normally I have no problem downing 100+ ounces a day, but I’m struggling to get 1/2 of that lately. Maybe because it’s cold and rainy, and coffee tastes so much better. Plus coffee is warm. I know I need more water, I just need to keep refilling that glass and drinking.
  6. I’ve been doing decent with my EA SPORTS Active workouts, and even managed to get in 2 short runs despite the craptastic Texas weather.

So those are my confessions.
