Weigh-in and More Workouts!

I have so many things going through my mind this morning. My to do list is long, and I’m getting a little freaked out about how quickly the holidays are sneaking up me. Can you believe THANKSGIVING IS NEXT WEEK? ACK! Deep breathes…….

I didn’t weigh-in last week because I was in California at a commercial shoot for the new EA SPORTS Active More Workouts game. Yes, there is a possibility I could be coming to a television set near you. Does anyone say television set anymore? Apparently I do!

Anywhoooo….

Did you know More Workouts came out yesterday? YES! It is now available for purchase, and you should totally get your tail down to your local store and pick up a copy! Why? Because it’s so RAD and we’re starting a 6-week challenge here on Friday. This Friday, November 20th! You don’t want to miss out do you?

I was chosen by EA SPORTS Active as one of their 6-Week Challengers. Exciting stuff, no?! What that means is that I, along with 11 other amazing people, will document my journey over the next 6 weeks over at the EAS Active site. I’ll also be writing about it right here! Talk about some major accountability through the holidays! I’m really looking forward to the challenge and hope that it helps me reach my final goal weight! I only have 11 pounds to go, and it’s been slow going lately. I think More Workouts and the 6-week challenge are exactly what I need to finally reach 130!

What’s so great about EA SPORTS Active More Workouts?
Well, like Personal Trainer, it’s a personal trainer in a box. You don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home to get an amazing workout. You’re guided through each move with videos, and you have you very own personal trainer right there on the screen showing you exactly what to do. And yes, you will sweat and feel the burn.

You want to know what’s NEW with More Workouts?
Can you say water sports? YES! They’ve added waterskiing, and paddling. Another new addition is the obstacle course, which totally kicks my ass. There’s also step aerobics that completely blows the Wii Fit version out of the water. Seriously awesome. Ab work, cool downs and warm ups were added, which makes it perfect! And my favorite part? The boxing! Not only can you box targets and heavy bags, you can also spar with your personal trainer! Who doesn’t want to pop their trainer in the face sometimes, right?! It’s all so much fun. Really. I wouldn’t be doing it if it weren’t fun!

See for yourself!

I haven’t posted much lately about my EA Sports 5K training! Well, I’m doing it! Despite the setback of having the H1N1 virus sweep through our house, I’ve been training, and feel like I’m really becoming a runner. WOW!

The past few days, it’s been so windy, and living in a hilly area, the wind makes it so much harder. Add pushing a jogging stroller into the mix, and sometimes it feels like I’m moving backwards instead of forwards.

Today my run was awesome. I ran without the jogging stroller and my daughter, there was no wind and the sun was shining! It was in the mid-50s, so it was nice and cool, which is a bonus. Since I didn’t have the stroller, I took an off-road route I normally wouldn’t be able to take. Lots of hills, some rocky terrain, and complete serenity. When I started, my goal was to see just how far I could go without stopping. Well, I made it a whole mile in a little over 11 minutes, and it felt so good. I slowed to a walk for about 4 tenths of a mile, and at the 15 minute mark turned around and started running back towards home. I made it another mile without stopping. Truly unbelievable and so empowering! I finished off walking for a couple of minutes and then I stretched.

Total time: 30′ 11″
Total distance: 2.63 mi.
Average pace: 11:27 per mile
Calories burned:  268

I know all of this, because I use the Nike+ iPod software. It’s awesome and I pretty much want to make out with it! You can check out my Nike+ site here, and watch my progress. Seriously, check out my progress and keep me honest. If I know you’re looking at it, I’ll be less likely to skip a run, because I certainly don’t want to let anyone down!
